ACES e-Learning

The Australian Cost Engineering Society now have in place an e-Learning training facility.

The e-Learning portfolio currently consists of 4 courses:

  • Cost Estimating and Project Control
  • Lean Thinking Practitioner
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

The fee for each of the above courses is currently A$100.00 which provides access for an unlimited time as long as you remain an ACES member. The fees for these courses are highly subsidised and only available to ACES members.

Details of the courses are as follows:

Cost Estimating and Project Control Curriculum

This curriculum covers the planning and control techniques of project management and will teach students how to manage projects of varied sizes effectively. The complete curriculum comprises of approximately 18 hours of education and consists of five modules.

  • Planning and Scheduling
  • Estimating
  • Cost Planning and Control
  • Risk Analysis and Management
  • Resource Management

Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites for this curriculum, but the Planning and Scheduling module is the pre-cursor programme to the other four modules, which can be taken in any order.

Lean Thinking Practitioner Course

The Lean Thinking Practitioner course is designed to take students from no knowledge up to Lean Practitioner level and comes complete with audio, animations, exercises, case studies and a test. It is approximately 14 hours in duration and is relevant for individuals that are looking to implement a Lean culture in order to drive out waste, drastically improve business processes and customer satisfaction.

Six Sigma Yellow Belt Course

This course is aimed at aspiring Green and Black Belts, together with anyone who requires a clear overview of the aims of Lean Six Sigma and a good understanding of the process improvement tools and techniques without the clutter of overly technical language. The course provides approximately 10 hours of education.

It comes complete with audio, animations, exercises, case studies and module assessments. All students that successfully complete the programme will be certified to Yellow Belt level.

The Yellow Belt course is a pre-cursor to the Green Belt course, but you do not need to take both courses and may decide to only obtain Yellow Belt certification and leave Green Belt level until later on, or not at all.

Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Six Sigma Green Belt Course

This course comes complete with audio, animations, exercises, case studies and module assessments. All students that successfully complete the programme will be certified to Green Belt level.

This course brings together Lean with Six Sigma to form a complete process improvement training solution and it is approximately 10 hours in duration. Students completing this programme will be able to actively work on Lean Six Sigma projects and are advised to do so as soon as certification is received.  This will aid data retention and provide immediate results and benefits for your organisation.

Pre-requisites: The Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt course, or equivalent knowledge, is a pre-requisite for this course.
